Use of Pastora Herbicide for Controlling KR Bluestem in Bermuda Pastures

Dr. Larry Redmon and I are investigating the possibility that Dupont's Pastora Herbicide (Nicosulfuron (Accent) + Metsulfuron Methyl (Ally)) will control King Ranch Bluestem in coastal bermudagrass pastures. Pastora has a label for controlling many grasses found in tame pastures but KR Bluestem is known to be very difficult to remove. In this test we are trying applications at different rates, different growth stage in the year and at 6 week retreatment in each growth stage application. We made our first application on July 29 and have a second application for Numbers 4J and 5J planned for September 8.

  2. do you have ANY updates on this? KRB is very invasive in my area of East Texas and from the roadway is invading my yard as well.

    1. I have been looking everywhere to find a suitable answer to this. I sprayed Pastora on my hayfield and it worked great for Vasey grass but Little Blue Stem and KRB it didn’t phase. I sprayed Glyphosate in April at around 0.5 oz per gallon. It stunted it but didn’t get rid of all of it. Didn’t hurt the Bermuda grass at all.
